According to PCST R&D survey 2013-14, the percentage of female researchers in R&D organizations, both as headcount and full time equivalent was found to be 8.99%, whereas in higher education institutes, the headcount was calculated as 33.02% and full time equivalent was 39.53%.

According to PCST R&D survey, in higher education institutes, the highest number of female researchers belong to natural sciences, while, in R&D organizations, the highest number of female researchers belong to medical sciences.

The figure below shows the percentage of females both as headcount and full-time equivalent in total number of R&D personnel in Pakistan during 2005-2013. During 2013, the highest percentage of females in total R&D personnel can be seen.

According to PCST R&D survey, 2013-14, the highest percentage of female in different categories of total R&D personnel in Pakistan belong to researchers followed by technicians and supporting staff.
